Sofia had many beautiful parks, some kept up better than others. Men played chess, couples lingered and we strolled through them all. The Doctor's Memorial (center above) honored many medics who died in the Russo-Turkish war . The U.S. Embassy created an even larger park filled with Roman ruins (bottom photo), but it is not as well maintained as the others.
