The Royal Palace - National Art Gallery

The Royal Palace was built as the Ottoman HQ. Here, national hero Vasil Levski was kept and tortured until he was publicly executed in 1873. After Bulgaria's liberation, it housed Bulgaria's royal family until after World War II. It now houses the nation's best collection of Bulgarian art (19th & 20th century).
