One could find most anything to buy -- whether in elegant shops near Sophia University or in impressive dept. stores or handcrafts in small street stands. And things were inexpensive too (one dollar was worth 1.26 leva), at least when compared other European countries -- even if Sofia was more pricey than the rest of Bulgaria.
