Hitler's 1936 Winter Olympics were held in Bavaria -- the same year as the more famous Summer Olympic Games held in Berlin. To host that event, two small rival towns (Garmisch & Partenkirchen) were combined into a single Olympic Village and this large stadium was built for the event. These ski jumps were recently rebuilt.
